WINNIE

Hi Suzanne,

Just wanted to send you a picture of Winnie and her new little sister.  We decided to adopt from a rescue group in our area because our shelters are overrun with cats and kittens- it is horrible!

Winnie loves having a new friend and they play all the time!

Hope you are well!  I will send more pictures as I take them!

BAXTER, PEPPER AND HIGGINS II

Hi, Aunt Suzanne!

Well, we have finally figured out how to use Dad's computer to resize the pictures of our first birthday party (August 7th) so we could share them with you. Mom set up a special table for us and put our gifts (one each, of course) out where we could sniff and scratch at them. Aunt Tracy flew in all the way from some cattery called Charlotte, NC to be with us for the festivities.

Yes, we got junk food - - Fancy Feast, we think, we didn't have time to taste it real good, just gulped it down whole - - instead of our regular Science Diet low cal menu. And it was the very first time ANY of us were allowed on the kitchen table :-) (Hah!) We sure did have a good time. Dad said he phoned you that day to let you know we are all doing A-OK, still watching NASCAR, Space Shuttle landings, and PGA golf on our personal flat screen TV. STILL trying to figure out why all those people aren't on the OTHER side of the screen!

Alpha Male Pepper ("Mr. StraightEars") is driving us nuts, tries to round us all up so he can keep an eye on us at all times - - he says it's like herding humans, whatever they are.
Thinks he's so important. We remember you and our relatives there but we don't think we can visit, being so far away and enjoying the Good Life here so much. Training continues to go well, Mom and Dad are quick learners.

Must go now, say "hi" to everyone for us.

Love you Aunt Suzanne!

MACDUFF

Hi Suzanne:

Macduff will be four years old this November.
He is very independent and very regular in his routine.

He is quiet unless he needs something and very loyal to his primary owners and suspicious of outsiders!  He likes roaming in his yard, but knows his boundaries.
He's a good companion and enjoys being the "only child" and quite spoiled!  Terri

HARLEY

Hi Suzanne,

Thanks for checking in. Sorry for the delayed response. Yesterday was a crazy day here in the office.

Everything is going fabulously with Harley. He is such a joy. What a terrific personality! He is so good natured and happy. We love that he purrs like crazy every time we pick him up. He did great in Seattle and on the way home here to Portland. He's very anxious to explore the house and meet Brinkley but we're keeping him sequestered in our bedroom for now.

Harley absolutely loves the little pink puff ball that you sent with him. I have quite a variety of toys for him but that is by far his favorite. He frequently puts it in both his food and water bowls so it's getting kinda icky already. I looked for more at several pet stores in Seattle but could not find the same type. Could you tell me where you get them or possibly send me some extras?

I mailed a check for the shipping costs from Seattle and hope you've received it by now. Please let me know.

Take care,

Alison

ANGEL AND WINSTON

Hi Suzanne,

As usual I sent these to myself first to make sure I attached them properly.

I thought you might want to add these to the others I sent for you to add with my testimonials whenever you get the chance.

The pictures of Winston are some of the best I have ever taken.

Angel is just being her cute, sweet self.

All the kitties are doing great, even Dandy seems to be doing better.

I love them all, but Winston has taken my heart, he is just one of those one in a million cats!  Hope things are going great for you!

Take care, Kim

P.S. I am sending a separate email with a couple of video clips for you to see.  Angel has a new "trick" she walks on our railings, and some of them are quite high!  I need to find one where Winston is playing, he can really move!

Gilda and Blue

Dear Suzanne,

I know it's early, but I was having a chuckle last night. Here's Gilda as a Halloween pumpkin!

Gilda is doing great.  She's gotten bigger, though her full size is still very "kittenish" compared to Blue.  She's starting to jump into laps for scratchies which is wonderful!  She wakes us up each morning by hopping into the bed as soon as the alarm goes off and starts meowing for breakfast.  We free-feed them, but they get some soft food in the morning when Gilda takes her medicine.  So they get a little antsy on the mornings we'd like to sleep in.  She's doesn't have a very loud meow, but when she wants us to get up and feed her... it's pretty crazy.

Otherwise there's nothing to report.  We haven't been in to see the vet for months (neither cat *knock on wood*) and hopefully it will remain the case until their check-up in January.  Blue does tend to get a kitty cold this time of year.  He's already been a little sniffle-y, but nothing major, and Gilda hasn't picked it up.

That's all for now!

Have a good weekend,
Maria Vogel

P.S. She LOVES paper bags, and I included a great shot of her after she played with the same bag until it popped a hole in the top (which just made it more fun!)

BO

Here are some first days pics of Bo.

He played all morning/afternoon and he just now crashed.  He laid on his back for awhile and it was too cute.

Bo is eating like crazy- wet food, dry food, Luna's food... Ha!  I also got the ferret harness and put it on him for awhile.  He did fine but he would randomly leap up in the air for no apparent reason.  We took off the harness after about 10 minutes and will work on it another day.

He has such a great personality and we are so grateful to have such a great boy.

Have a great one!

Jamie

Suzanne,

What a sweet boy!  We are so taken with him.  He slept in the carrier part of the way, and when he wasn't sleeping he was sitting like a captain, poking his head out and watching the road.  Also, he is FAST!!  Ha ha.  He just darted across the living room at lightning speed.

One quick question- we have his wet and dry food out for him but he keeps trying to eat Luna's food, which is IAMS healthy naturals weight control food.  Is it ok for him to eat it or should we keep him away from it?  Also, how much should he eat each day?

Thanks again for everything!!

Jamie

Hi Suzanne,

He did great in Seattle and on the way home here to Portland. He's very anxious to explore the house and meet Brinkley but we're keeping him sequestered in our bedroom for now. He's doing some sneezing but it doesn't seem serious enough for antibiotics (e.g. no congestion or eye/nose discharge). What do you think? He never developed diarrhea or loose stools. From the day he arrived, he has been defecating and eating/drinking really well. Thanks so much for the care package. It's great have in case we need it.

Harley absolutely loves the little pink puff ball that you sent with him. I have quite a variety of toys for him but that is by far his favorite. DUNCAN AND WILLIE

Hi Suzanne!

Long time no speak.  I guess that’s a good thing for you since we were talking almost every day for a while last year.  J  Duncan is doing great and is a lot of fun.  He has a great personality and is a beautiful little guy.  We love him so much.  I have a question about him though.  Duncan has only grown to about half of Willy’s size.  He is now almost 15 months old and I was kind of expecting him to be full grown at this point.  Willy is not very large, although maybe slightly larger than average.

He weighs somewhere between 11 and 12 pounds.  Duncan is due for his annual checkup soon so I am not sure exactly how much he weighs, but I would say it is probably about 6 pounds.  He is also small in size overall as you can see in the attached photo with Willy.  My husband snapped it this morning while they were eating since they aren’t side by side very often.  My husband calls Duncan “small fry”  all of the time which is funny.  Anyway, I think he is absolutely adorable in his petite size, I was just wondering if it is normal.  Do some cats have size issues like people (midgets, dwarfs)?  Just curious.  As always, your professional opinion is appreciated.

Hope you are well and I will speak to you soon.

Thanks and regards,

Michelle

FIONA, SKYE AND RUFINA

Hi Suzanne.

Everyone made it home safely and the kittens seem to be happy.  We took them to our vet this morning and he said they look great.  We do have a few questions so here ya go:

1) We bought a 3 "room" Sturdi Show Shelter (the one that look's like a tent that you see at cat shows) for them to stay in while we're at work or sleeping.  We didn't want them getting into trouble while we weren't around.  It's good size (2' x 2' x 5'3").  One room has a sleeping pad the next has food/water and the last has the litter box.  Skye and Rufina have been sleeping where we'd expect but Fiona has decided to sleep in the litter box.  Tonight, Fiona is sleeping in the litter box and Skye and Rufina are sleeping next to the litter box.  I'm guessing this is maybe a security thing but wanted to ask your thoughts.

2) What product do you use to bathe them and how often?

Hi Suzanne.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you but things have been crazy here at the brewery... just joking... I'm unfortunately not related to the sam adams CEO (that I know of) and it is good beer!

Anyway, here are a few follow-up questions, an update on the kittens, and I attached some photos

1) You mention on your site that you use an oatmeal and aloe shampoo on the cats.  Any particular brand and how often?
2) You also mention something called shed stop.  Is this a bath or food additive?  What brand?

I also have some vaccine questions but I'll save them for later as I can't get my head around them right now :)

Here's the update...

Rufina

She's adapted well with my mother-in-law (Vilma) and she is practically inseparable from her.  She knows her name and comes when she's  She did have a recent issue with a build up of ear wax but I believe that has been solved.  Rufina is a big talker and is still full of pep!  Vilma brought her by our house one weekend to "visit" Fiona and Skye.  At one point, Fiona and Skye were completely worn out and were laying on a chair together just watching Rufina bounce around!  Even with all her energy, she is well on her way to being a lap as she is always looking for attention.

Fiona and Skye

They are great friends constantly playing.  This actually has my wife a little jealous as she was really hoping for the same kind of bonding that her mother has with Rufina but since the 2 have each other, I'm sure that will take longer.  We have a house full of toys for them but their favorite toy still is the plastic box you gave us as an "emergency" litter box.  They are forever jumping in and out of it.

Fiona has moved past kitten to adolescence.  She goes through periods of constant activity to apparent contemplation.  She is a bit aloof when it comes to hanging out with us but is very responsive if you pick her up to pet her.  She is not a talker at all.  The most I've ever heard is a peep or two if Skye is playing too rough.  She is very inquisitive and is forever looking out the french door to the patio to see what's going on in the world.  She also has a bit of a motherly approach to Skye and seems to play the adult and will clean her and come running if Skye makes a concerning noise.

Skye is still very much a kitten and still has the baby belly to prove it.  She always has someplace to go or something to do and does not like to be held (although she'll tolerate it for a few seconds).  She is more of a talker than Fiona but nothing like Rufina.

She's also more of a thinker and seems to analyze how a toy works as opposed to just whacking it around.  We blocked off the underside of the couch so they couldn't get under it and she worked out how to open it back up.

Skye also has a couple of idiosyncrasies that we've never seen in Fiona.  While she doesn't like to be picked up, when she wants attention, she let's you know.  90% of the time this is when we're sleeping.

She'll start rubbing herself on your head and meowing.  This means she wants you to wake up and pet her.  She has to constantly be walking around while you do this (no stopping for her) and it lasts for about 2 to 5 min.  She has also turned one of our pillows into some sort of surrogate mother.  We have this plush pillow that she will bury her head in and apparently suckle on as if she was actually feeding (see the pictures I sent).

I've never walked into the room and found her doing this so seemingly she only does it if we're in the bed as well.  I was thinking we should hide the pillow but any thoughts you have on this would be appreciated.

I don't have any pictures of Rufina right now but I attached some of Skye and Fiona.  Some are taken a week apart and you can actually see that they've grown during that time.

I have to run to the office now so take care and I'll drop some other pictures when I have a chance!

JULIET

Sandra from Connecticut, giving you an update on Juliet, new name Talula Rose. She is doing well ,doesn't hide under the bed except when new people visit. She has got to be the sweetest cat that has ever lived with me. She loves to play and check out everything I'm doing. I want to thank you for advertising her on your website and for having such beautiful Scottish Folds! I have to tell you, I can't wait to get home from work everyday  just to see her, she always makes me smile. Now that I've discovered Scottish Folds I'm still looking for a male, I'll keep checking your website. What can you tell me about the cream Mackerel tabby, SE male?

Thanks again for Talula Rose A.K.A. Juliet

NACHO

Hi Suzanne:

Here's some new pictures of Nacho -

I'll follow up with Taco and Burrito pictures soon.

He just got a check up for his third birthday -

As you can see he's pretty ambivalent about going to my vet who he loves.

And, Nacho is his "second favorite" patient…after Taco

Like his brothers, he's a pleasure.

Damian

MAGGIE

It's the funniest thing...last time I talked to you, you had asked if she sits like the cats on your website and she never had.  That very same day when I got home from work, I saw her sitting like that.  I just love her...she is so sweet! I'm going to try to send you her picture.  I hope it comes through.  I'll keep you updated if anything else happens.   Thanks for checking on her.

SUNSET AND STARLIGHT

Just wanted to touch base.  The girls are wonderful!  They are growing bigger every day.

Holly has still been an issue.  She hisses at them and occasionally swats at them.  I have kept the girls in a separate bedroom at night so to give Holly some special time.  But I would appreciate any advice you might have on what to do to make Holly nicer to them and to move the situation along.

* Just received the medicine and gave it to both girls and am grateful for the wonderful packaging for beginners like me.  Thank you so much for sending.
Starlight at window

* Both girls are playful and eating and drinking.

* Here are some preliminary pictures  . . . of course I have zillions (the last one I sent because I thought it was a pretty picture, not that it shows activity.)

Totally-in-love,

eileen

PS Holly is venturing near the kittens and they just stare her down or continue playing.  She is hissing and still not happy, but I think she knows they are here to stay.  I try to give Holly extra attention when she lets me.

POPO

We got him home safe and sound earlier today. :-)  Thank you so much for everything.  I've included some pictures of us with him in case you'd like to see them.  Thank you again.

We'll let you know as soon as we get him. We went to WalMart yesterday and bought him ALL KINDS of stuff.  A 2-story kitty condo, a litter box, some Friskies, some wet food for a snack, some salmon treats, a couple of toys, a scratching post and some cat nip. YUM!  We'll let you know as soon as we get him!  Thanks so much for everything!

AXL

Hi Suzanne,

We picked up Axl, no problems at all.  He was so affectionate on the ride home sitting on Josh's lap.

Warmest regards,

Audrey

Hi Suzanne,

He is doing great!  He's eating, playing, and purring.

We are very happy with him.  He is wonderful!!

Thank you,

Audrey

MACY AND SAMY

ps: I have attached a pic of Macy (cream) and Samy.
We always get compliments on how nice their coat is and how adorable their faces are, they are a relief to come home to each day.
