Testimonies 2009 - January
NACHO, TACO, BURRITO
It got cold up here – real cold.
On a whim, I tried sweaters for
the guys and they actually like
them
Is it me – or are cats not
supposed to com close to wearing
them…
I did have one other cat who
would – but Taco Nacho and
Burrito are fine with them
I had to make some enhancements
to the leg opening – other than
that, they’re good to go.
Anyway, just checking to see if
this is as unusual as I think it
is.
I’ll
take some sweater pictures over
the weekend…Taco’s sweater has a
turtleneck…you have no idea how
hysterical he looks….
The picture of Nacho and Burrito
pretty much represents how they
sleep just about every night –
everyone has really bonded well.
You
should see Taco’s – it has a big
turtleneck…and one of the primary
colors is kelly green.
Recognizing that they are more
functional than anything, I’m having
one made to size for both of them.
Burrito has no interest in going out
and prefers to just drive around in
the truck looking out the window
when it’s his “turn” to go out.
So,
I won’t need to have an XXXL made
for him.
Thank god – trying to manage three
of them on a walk is challenging…to
say the least.
Everyone is doing well – Nacho
has really taken a liking to
going to the beach every morning
on the weekends – regardless of
how cold it is.. Like me,
Taco prefers to wait until it’s
warmer, but Nacho seems to be
oblivious to the weather and
takes two laps up and down the
beach to the sounds of my teeth
chattering every Saturday and
Sunday – even in the snow.
I’ve weaned Burrito out of going
out (balancing a fair schedule
for the other two is enough).
But, he’s a real couch potato
and seems to be fine staying
home as long as one of his
brothers is there. He’s a
great addition and never leaves
my side at the house..
All 3 are still a pleasure.
Damian
Ps
– let me know if you have any other
picture requests for the site and
I’m sure I’ll have it – I pretty
much have a portfolio of each one of
them doing something that cats
aren’t supposed to do
WINNIE
Hi Suzanne!
I just wanted to
send you an update on Winnie.
She is doing great! She is
probably the funniest cat we've ever
had. What a personality!
I will send you
a few pictures of her sitting up- it
cracks everyone up!
Hope you are
well,
Daun

Time Marches On , But Training
Never Ends"
Dear Aunt Suzanne,
Happy New Year!
We thought you might like an update
on our well-adjusted lives.
First, all of us want to thank you
from the bottom of our hearts for
your donation to the Arkansas
Veterinary Medical Foundation in the
memory of our late Barnie. It was
so thoughtful of you to do that.
We have just about finished the
initial phase of training Mom and
Dad. We'll be six months 7 Feb, and
we have asked if we can go to Chucky
Cheese to celebrate, but Mom and Dad
say we would run up to high of a
bill. So I guess we can forage for
food here at home.
We got microchipped at Dr. Gandy's
office last month. Silly Baxter, he
thought he heard "microwave" instead
of "microchip," so he sat in the
kitchen waiting for a heated snack
of turkey.
As you can see, we have really
gotten into watching TV, especially
ESPN where we can follow the
footballs, tennis balls, and race
cars. We especially like the words
that scroll across the bottom of the
TV - - wonder where they go after we
can't see them anymore?
Anyhow, we can't wait until the
Super Bowl this Sunday because Mom
says she is going to make everyone a
special lasagna dish (whatever that
is).
Our day starts around 5:30 am during
the week, 'cause we have to make
sure Mom and Dad get dressed and
give us our breakfast and snacks
before they g to work. Weekends are
better, all three of us sleep in
late on the bed with Mom and Dad.
We love to watch the squirrels and
birds out our window and, of course
play with all our toys. After we
sleep for a few hours, we're ready
to go full tilt from around 10:00 am
til 2:30 p.m., when we have our
snacks and catch some more zzzz.
When Mom and Dad come home, we
don't leave their sight - - food may
be offered at any time! (yes, we
are watching our weights!)
Then
some more TV, playtime and around
9:30 p.m. Mom calls us for our final
turkey treat of the day before we
turn in for the night. We sleep in
the bedroom with Mom and Dad all
night long without a peep.
We try to stay out of trouble, or
Mom threatens to tell us "No!,"
whatever THAT means.
Well, must go now. We hope all is
well with you and our birth family
there. Stay tuned for more update!
Love You,
Baxter, Higgins, and Pepper
Jay and Linda

Hmmm . . . they get PAID for
this?

Checking out the final score.

You mean we can order out with
that thing!!?
 Here birdie, birdie, birdie.

The good life.

Baxter left - - he heard Dad
open the refrigerator door.
KENZIE
Kenzie is
doing great. She seems to
be putting on some weight even
though she don't eat as much as
she should.
She torments
the dogs all the time. She
loves to lounge around.

WINSTON/PRINCE HAIRY
The gang is doing better all the
time! :-) Even though we are
struggling to find the perfect name,
this may be the perfect cat! He is
what I love, cuddly.
I
am still getting the hang of fur care, I
love his coat. I am brushing him
as much as I can, I am making him, very
gently, accept that he has to be brushed
and it has to be all over, belly and
all! I am having the most trouble
getting under his chin, but I'll get
there. I have never had a cat with
fur like this.
Do you think I need to bathe him?
If so how often? He is in my lap
now "helping" me type this.
Kimberly
On my home front the news is pretty
good. Winston/Prince Hairy, I
can't decide, is the sweetest kitten!
He may be the most lovable kitten I have
ever had, the only one that was anything
like this was Daffy. As you know
Daffy was the love of my life.
Angel stays fairly clear of him, she is
either afraid or worried she will lose
my attention. If they do get near
each other all they do is hiss and
vocalize, no fighting, thank goodness.
Dandy is being really good about the
whole situation, he seems to be taking
it in stride. Dandy will probably
just start cleaning him when things calm
down. Angel might take more time,
I hope it will only be a few days.
Everybody is eating well and life is
normal most of the time. Winston
stays upstairs most of the time and the
other two stay downstairs. I do
bring all of them into our bedroom at
night and close the door, I want them
all to learn to sleep together in the
bed with us. For a little while
each night there is some posturing, but
everyone settles in and sleeps within
about an hour.
Winston is a joy, he cuddles and plays
and is very easy going. He is
everything and more that you said he
was! I am so happy he is here.
I'll keep you updated until everything
is "normal" here.
Take care, Kim
P.S. I do spend time with each cat
individually, I make sure they all know
they are loved. I try to keep the
attention very even, I know that is the
best. They should all calm down
soon, it is still very new.
MAGGIE
Hi,

She's doing
great. She is such a
sweetheart. She's been
checking everything out, getting
familiar with the house. Friday
she spent all night under the
furniture ,
but then yesterday she really
came out of her shell. She
slept on me for 2 hours and then
she was ready to play. She
loves the "cat dancer" toy.
She had lots of visitors
yesterday and lots of
love. She's eating good and we
haven't had any litter box
problems.
I was going
to check with you. We
noticed she has a little bump or
knot on her tummy. It may
be from the surgery. Just
wanted to check and make sure
that you knew about it and not
something that just happened.
Thanks again
for delivering her and for all
of the goodies in her care
package. I just love
her...couldn't ask for a sweeter
kitty. Thanks so much.
Lynda
They're getting along
well. Gator is
just keeping his
distance and watching
her. Maggie would
make a little growling
noise at first, but now
she's jumping out in
front of him trying to
get him to play.
I've been keeping her in
the bedroom with me at
night and will keep her
there in the day when
I'm at work, until I
know they'll be okay
together.
She is sneezing a
little, as you
mentioned, but she acts
perfectly fine. No
need to give her
anything for that,
right, as long as she
active? She is
so fun to play with.
So much energy.
AMOS
Suzanne,
hope all is well with you
and your family! We
are all doing great. I
am sending you an updated
photo of Amos, whom we got
from you four years ago.
He is one handsome little
man. He looks like
Garfield!
Our
son, Battle, bought this bed
for him for Christmas, and
he LOVES it! love to
all in the new year!
Gay

NEVILLE

Hi Suzanne
I just wanted to share something with
you. I tried lysine and he still kept
having this brown gunk draining from his
eyes, also kept sneezing and had to go
to the Vet again. I was really getting
discouraged! My vet just kept putting
him on antibiotics and eye drops. He
wanted to start him on some antiviral
meds. Diagnosed w/ chronic herpes{never
did a culture to confirm-he was just so
sure}. My daughter who is a vegan and
believes that diet is the cause of most
chronic problems FINALLY convinced me to
try him on a grain free diet- I wish I
would have listened to her a long time
ago!! It was like a miracle ! His eyes
cleared up and he stopped sneezing! I
noticed that he was chewing on his paws
so I changed the litter-I was using
natures miracle which is corn based. I
am so thrilled- NO more eye drainage, NO
more sneezing and no more chewing on his
paws. I feel so bad that I didn't
realize this earlier! I believe a
corn allergy was the culprit. The poor
little guy. He also seems happier,
calmer and is not being aggressive
towards my female. I think he was just
so miserable all the time. His symptoms
just didn't fit the classic food allergy
symptoms -anyway just thought I would
let you know, just in case anyone else
is having the same problem. I also only
give him filtered sping water. Hope all
is well with you. Will keep in touch!
Leslie Tosco
I
really can not tell you how much I love
and enjoy this guy. He follows me around
like a puppy, and is so much company
that I really don't miss having a dog
anymore. He is so FULL of personality!
Will keep in touch-Leslie
MAGGIE AND MAISIE
Hi Suzanne,
The girls are doing just
great. They are so much fun.
Every night when I wake up they are both
always sleeping right next to me......so
I give them a scratch on the head and a
couple of pets, and they start purring
like crazy. The shy one
(Maggie) has gotten a lot better, but
she is still a little bit shy.
But Maisie, on the other hand, is very
out going. They just love my
poodle and my son's yorkie puppy---which
is their size--- and them play all the
time, and when they get tired, they
sleep together too.
Take Care,
Kathy
Higgins, Pepper, and Baxter and Barnie too!Dear Aunt Suzanne,
Just a quick note to let you know
that Mom and Dad are responding to
our training very well, thank you.
We have the Big Guy totally under
our control, we found out what
Thanksgiving turkey is all about,
and have heard something about ham
for Christmas. Higgins decided to
take a dive into the tub and took a
bath with Dad.

Pepper is a lap cat, Baxter likes to
hang out with Mom in the kitchen,
and Higgins is his own little guy.
Have a great Christmas and a Happy
New Year!!
Love,
Higgins, Pepper, and Baxter
and Barnie, too.

ROXY
I appreciate
it. This toy is her absolute
favorite. She attaches it to the
bike shoes velcro (im not sure
why) a lot and carries it around
in her mouth, and chases it, and
pounces on it. i learned how to
cut her nails after pet smart
did it and techs at the vet hosp
did a few demos. she went into
the grooming area with all dogs
and every pet was behaved and
roxy was the only cat there
getting her nails cut and she
just sat on this groomers lap
and was really good. she
surprises me a lot and does a
lot of funny things.her stomach
fur grew and she is really soft.
she likes to have her hand held
and pulls out poney tail holders
from the couch and puts them in
her food bowl. she never
had even one bathroom accident.
i will send you pictures of
her. thank you ! marlana
Hi Suzanne- How
are you?
I'm well and so
is the kitten
(stormy &
natalie) roxy. I
was wondering if
you could send
her a couple of
the mice toys
(small with
rattle noise,
colorful, and
looks like it is
covered with
ribbon ) We do
not have any
like this here.
If this is
possible I could
send a check or
call with visa.
This is roxy's
favorite toy.
One time it was
lost for about a
month in the
couch.
Thank you !
marlana
Baxter, Pepper, and Higgins
Dear Aunt Suzanne,
We thought we'd bring you up to date on
our progress - - we have just about got
everyone trained here except the Big
Guy, Barnie, who continues to rebel at
our advances from time to time. In
retaliation for us joining the family,
we guess he has decided to starve us out
by eating our kitten food like there's
no tomorrow. Three can play at that
game - - we just go in and eat his food.
Mom and Dad tell us that Barnie NEVER
ate anything like chopped liver or
turkey (our favorite snacks), but we can
always teach a cat new tricks. Anyhow,
we all get along pretty well. Barnie
even lets us share his bowl with his
without a fuss (until Dad catches us),
but every once in a while Barnie will
corner one of us and hiss. At first we
hissed back, but we've come up with a
much better idea. As soon as the Big
Guy goes to sleep on the couch (sheesh,
he sleeps a lot!), we take turns
sneaking up on him and give him about
three quick, light taps to his head,
then we run away before he can ask for
the name of the truck that hit him.
Haah!Oh, yes - - we found out what
Thanksgiving dinner is all about. We
were very good, just stayed on the
floor, didn't try to get up on the table
or beg - - at least until we had that
first bite of turkey! Wow! Life is
good!
Must go now, time for Animal Planet.
We all hope you had a great
Thanksgiving!
Love you,
Baxter, Pepper, and Higgins
